The Blog: Deal Flow Diaries - Why have I created this repository of my thoughts, opinions and commentary? No, it’s not all about ego! Deal Flow Diaries has been something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Focused on all things related to deals within the broad scope of the investment community, my blog is a compilation of all the things I see come across my desk as an investment professional…good, bad and ugly!   • The Who: Who should read and/or contribute to Deal Flow Diaries? Any and all Investment Bankers, Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, M&A practitioners, Analysts ( Buy or Sell Side), Private Equity Groups, Hedge Fund Managers, Debt or Equity Funds. Also businesses looking to raise money or seek out investors can gain valuable insight.
  • The What: These discussions and viewpoints are relating to deals, the good, the bad and the UGLY! These are my perspectives on everything from finding a transaction, to structuring, to nuances in negotiating to outright poker playing and keeping your game face on until the deal closes.
  • The Where: Deal Flow Diaries will attempt to capture the current state of the market, the players, the deals and hot new trends. I want this blog to be a resource and a sounding board for all in the industry or those brushing the outskirts. I want to discuss the greatest transactions to the worst blow ups.
  • The Why: Because it needs to be done! I want this to be a unique forum allowing all to garner information relating to deals and the people that do them!
  • The How: Check in, read, reflect, post and garner knowledge.

Deal Flow Diaries is all business to me. However, business without humor is no fun. I will attempt to inject these posts with a sense of humor (I don’t claim to how well it is received.) So tell me your story, tell me about a deal, tell me something that will add to the Deal Flow Diaries.

The Man: Andre J. Peschong - Investment Banker; Private Equity Commentator - As an investment banking professional, Mr. Peschong has an extensive background in the creation and evaluation of specialized derivative financial instruments. With years of deal structuring, from due diligence to gauging key risks associated with institutional equity positions within potential investment candidates to various exit strategies, Mr. Peschong has extensive skills in capital structuring, investment banking and institutional placements. As a frequent speaker and panelist, he is able to easily convey the current state of the equity market with an energetic and thoughtful style.

Mr. Peschong is currently a Partner with Bridgewater Capital Corporation. As a founding partner of this boutique merchant/investment banking firm, Mr. Peschong has honed his skills for more than 18 years in the creation and evaluation of specialized derivative financial instruments. Mr. Peschong takes an active role in the negotiations between companies and institutional investors and then coordinates subsequent equity infusions into the respective client companies. While at Bridgewater, Mr. Peschong has been instrumental in the completion, through PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) transactions, of over $300 million in equity related capital infusions for client companies. Additionally, he has completed M&A transactions with over $100 million in enterprise value, spearheaded the transition of ten companies from privately held companies to public traded companies as well as managed three different special situations hedge funds.

Recent ventures have included a Managing Partner position with Instream Capital, LLC a San Francisco based fund that specialized in short term secured loans to special situations companies. Additionally, Mr. Peschong was also a Managing Partner of Oceanus Value Fund LP, which specializes in short term bridge loans made to smaller public and private companies which also include an equity kicker. These structured loans allow for a senior secured position while still participating in an equity upside.

From 1991 until 1994, Mr. Peschong was a Sr. Vice President with Bentley, Richards & Associates, an investment banking firm specializing in equity placements with European institutions. While there, Mr. Peschong assembled an extensive database of criteria for the assessment of risk at many different levels, such as: market risk, trading risk, fundamental company risk and economic risk. Prior to joining Bentley, Richards & Associates, Mr. Peschong worked for Cruttenden & Company, a regional brokerage and investment banking firm. Co Founded following Companies:

Mr. Peschong currently resides with his wife and two children in Newport Beach, CA. He has a black belt in Karate, enjoys working out, riding motorcycles, reading, enjoying fine wine and is an avid golfer. Mr. Peschong is frequently interviewed by media and has been highlighted in stories from:
