Small Cap Rock Star Event
Well ladies and gentlemen, it is that time of year again: the largest (as well as the most entertaining) small cap growth conference in the country is here. The annual Roth Capital conference is being held at the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Niguel, California. This is an absolute must attend for any person who is dealing in the public small cap arena, specifically in PIPE’s and SPAC’s. Roth Capital, headed up by Byron Roth, is putting on their largest conference to date and this is number 20. It is the most widely attended and most anticipated event in the country for the small cap arena. This is not your typical dry conference where a panel gets up spouts off their background coupled with some statistics. No, this is a well orchestrated, deftly planned event where nothing is overlooked. There will be over 300 small cap company presentations from diverse industries as well as a complete track (event within the event) on opportunities in India, China and a special panel discussion on SPAC’s. Typically, over 1,000 buyside investors show up looking for the next undiscovered gem. This year Roth is doing its’ part for the environment and to reduce their carbon footprint by having all the presenting material from the companies be available on a memory stick. Now to the important stuff, entertainment! This year there will be two shows the first on February 19th where the band Good Charlotte will be rocking the house or massive tent as the case may be. On Wednesday the 20th The Cult will be playing. You have never seen so many buttoned up MBA analyst types letting it all out and I do mean all. Last year Ludacris and the Pussycat Dolls played on stage and it was absolutely insane. The funny part is the next day when you saw these analyst types lose there minds guzzling vodka the night before now sitting in these sessions looking as studious and uptight as ever. Yes I will be attending and giving you the view from the inside, party and all. It’s tough but someone needs to do it so it might as well be me.
